This workshop engages participants in Functional Development-the ability for a child to make use of what is naturally and locally available with the help of educators. If an educator can be a kid for just one imaginary moment, he/she can provide quality arts education. By presenting art in its most simple form, students who have preconceived ideas that they are not good artists become willing participants. When students use stick figures to interpret the world around them at their own developmental levels, they are true professionals. 2003 VAAE FALL CONFERENCE Celebrate Learning through the arts Bread Loaf Campus, Middlebury College Middlebury, Vermont www.vaae.org Won-Ldy Paye's Residency in Schools: Liberian Arts and Culture: Music, Dance, Storytelling, Art, Masks and Masquerades.
